📘 Chapter 2: Made in His Image

You Were Designed with Dominion, Not Defeat (Genesis 1:26–28)

🕊️ Your Original Identity

“Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion…’” — Genesis 1:26 (NKJV)

The first recorded words God spoke about humanity were not about weakness, fear, or survival. He said we were made in His image and given dominion.

Before sin, shame, or scarcity entered the picture—your identity was settled:
You were created to reflect God’s character and rule in God’s authority.

🔁 Cross-Reference: Image and Authority

“What is man that You are mindful of him… You made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands.” — Psalm 8:4–6
“As He is, so are we in this world.” — 1 John 4:17
“Put on the new self… created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.” — Ephesians 4:24

God didn’t just give you a job—He gave you a nature. You weren’t made to barely get by; you were created to bear fruit, subdue chaos, and bring order as an extension of His presence.

💡 Abundance Begins with Identity

You can’t walk in dominion if you’re confused about who you are.

Satan’s first attack was not physical—it was identity theft.

“Did God really say?” … “You will be like God…” — Genesis 3:1,5

Ironically, Adam and Eve were already like God. The enemy didn’t try to destroy their authority—he got them to doubt they had it.

❗ Business application: Most entrepreneurs don’t burn out because of work—they burn out because they forgot who they are in the work.

💼 Business Application #1: Identity-Driven Business

Your brand is an extension of your spiritual identity.

  • You are not an imposter—you are an ambassador (2 Cor. 5:20).
  • You don’t hustle for favor—you operate from grace (Eph. 2:8–10).
  • You’re not just selling a product—you’re solving chaos with order, just like your Creator.

What would shift in your business if you stopped chasing success and started walking in dominion?

✍️ Devotional Reflection

In Genesis 1:28, God blessed them and then commanded them to:

  • Be fruitful
  • Multiply
  • Fill the earth
  • Subdue it
  • Have dominion

Notice the order: Blessing precedes responsibility.
God never tells you to do something without first empowering you to do it.

That means everything you need for your calling already exists—in you, or accessible by faith.

🧱 Business Application #2: Your Work is a Garden

Adam’s first job was gardening—not just plants, but potential.

“Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden… to tend and keep it.” — Genesis 2:15

Your business is a garden—it requires intentional cultivation.
Don’t expect fruit without effort. But don’t expect fulfillment without alignment, either.

Ask:

  • Am I tending to what God gave me?
  • Am I working in my assignment, or just chasing income?

🛡️ Identity Warfare: The Flesh and the Fraud

Your flesh says:

  • “You’re not enough.”
  • “You’re falling behind.”
  • “You’ll be exposed.”

But God says:

“You are My workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works.” — Ephesians 2:10

When you build from false identity, you end up with false fruit:
Comparison, fear, over-functioning, imposter syndrome.

⚔️ Business Application #3: Fight from Identity, Not for It

You are not trying to become a “successful entrepreneur”—you are a Son or Daughter of the King with an assignment in the marketplace.

That changes:

  • How you handle failure (it’s training, not identity loss)
  • How you handle rejection (you were already accepted)
  • How you handle success (it’s stewardship, not self-worth)

Your identity is not in your numbers—it’s in your nature.

🔚 Final Reflection

In Genesis 1, your original design was image and dominion.
In Genesis 3, the enemy tempted you to doubt it.
In Christ, your image and dominion are restored (Romans 5:17).

Don’t let a fallen world define what a risen Savior has already secured.

You were created to:

  • Multiply excellence
  • Subdue confusion
  • Lead with integrity
  • Reflect God’s nature in your niche

Walk like you’re made in His image—because you are.
